Frequently Asked Questions

Q.          I have my own lamp and I need just the lampshade.  Do you sell just the lampshade?

A.           Yes! Check product titles on the Lamps and Shades page. If the word “lamp” is missing from the title, then the listing is for a lampshade only. Most “shade only” listings simply state Victorian Lampshade in the title, and “Sold as a lampshade only” in the product description.

 

Q.          Do you accept bespoke commissions (custom orders)?

A.           Yes!  Request a custom order here or via the clickable buttons on the website. .  You can see a list of available lampshade frames here, and others not listed can be created. Please note that every bespoke commission (custom order) requires a minimum downpayment of $200 USD to commence work. You can make your deposit via personal check, PayPal, or on my website. Please also note that there is a queue, and your item will be made in the order your request is received. All custom-made lampshades are non-refundable.

 

Q.          Do you have an Etsy shop?

A.           Yes!  You can shop all Elegance Lamps products on Etsy at this link, or by typing elegancelamps.etsy.com in a browser window.

Q.          What shipping options does Elegance Lamps offer?

A.           Shipping prices and speed vary by product dimensions, shipping destination, and customer-selected shipping carrier. Select your shipping preference at checkout. Most domestic items will ship via USPS Ground. International items will ship via USPS Priority International, and large/oversize items will ship via United Parcel Service.  All items are shipped with insurance. You will receive a tracking number for your shipment via email.

Q.          Do you ship internationally?

A.           Yes!  Elegance Lamps will ship to most countries in the world. You can also receive an International shipping quote from my Etsy shop. Please be aware of import maximum box dimensions in your county! Each country has a maximum size that will be accepted, so keep size in mind.

Q.          How long will it take for my purchase to dispatch?

A.           Purchased items on the Elegance Lamps website dispatch within 1 to 3 business days.  A tracking number will be sent via email upon dispatch. 

Q.          What is the return policy at Elegance Lamps?

A.           We stand behind our products and offer exchanges for undamaged products returned in original packaging within 15 days. Purchaser pays all shipping costs for exchanges, including return of original product, and delivery of replacement product. All bespoke commission (custom orders) orders are non-refundable. Q.          Why should I shop at Elegance Lamps instead of another lighting source?

A.           Elegance Lamps is a quality trusted brand with unique design.  Quality means lampshade components are actually sewn with a needle and thread and not just claimed, and all lamps are authentic American-made antiques.  Elegance Lamps products are over-engineered to last a lifetime. Trust means several years of an A+ rating by the Better Business Bureau and hundreds of verified customer reviews. Elegance Lamps designs are unique, interesting, and simply elegant.

 

Q.          Where can I see examples of your work?

A.           See the Gallery page on the Elegance Lamps website for examples of beaded antique lamps and lampshades from past collections. In addition, you can link to multiple social media platforms directly from the webpage, reflecting several years of activity.

 

Q.          Do you offer lampshade making classes?

A.           Currently, I am not offering classes.  However, I do host a Facebook page that is dedicated to lamp and shade making, where construction techniques are discussed by many makers and over 4,100 members. In addition, I you can read the Elegance Lamps Blog for additional learning.

Q.          Where do you buy your materials?

A.           See the Elegance Lamps Amazon Storefront for direct links to items used to create lampshades, parasols, and lamp restorations. Antique mateirals used in Elegance Lamps products are procured from antiquities dealers.

 

Q.          Why Parasols?

A.           Parasols with LED lights are personal portable lamps! They’re just as beautiful as the lamps and are designed to be wearable art.  Parasols are restocked annually beginning in the spring, and product addition continues through August.

 

Q.          New items sell out so fast!  How can I be notified of new items?

A.           Join the mailing list to receive an email when new products are available.

Q.          Why are sold items listed on the Elegance Lamps storefront?

A.           Items marked as Sold are visible on the Elegance Lamps storefront for customer inspiration and reference. Many customers see a sold item that they love and want something similar created as a bespoke commission. This helps both the customer and Elegance Lamps easily understand customer preferences for style elements and product cost. For ease of use, available items are listed in first order.

Q.          I saw an antique lamp base on your site that I want to buy.  Will you sell just the antique lamp base without the lampshade?

A.           No. Antique lamp bases are never sold separately at Elegance Lamps. All lamp bases are accompanied with a handmade Victorian lampshade. However, lampshades can be sold separately without a lamp base.
