  • Why should I shop at Elegance Lamps?

Elegance Lamps is for people who care deeply about proportion, material, and permanence. Each lamp and lampshade is made individually using antique and historic materials that are no longer produced. Once a piece is sold, it cannot be replicated.

Antique lamp bases are never treated as interchangeable objects. Each is restored and paired with a handmade Victorian lampshade designed specifically for its scale, weight, and character, creating a cohesive and intentional result. Lampshades are also offered on their own for those who already own a lamp worthy of a truly considered shade.

Most lampshades today are produced quickly using modern synthetic materials and standardized patterns. Elegance Lamps works differently. Every piece is constructed by hand, with careful attention to structure, balance, and longevity, using materials chosen for their history and integrity rather than convenience.

What you receive is not décor and not trend-driven lighting. It is functional art, created to be lived with, kept, and valued long after comparable pieces have been discarded.

  • Examples of past work can be found on the Portfolio page, which features beaded antique lamps and lampshades from previous collections. Additional images and ongoing work are shared on Elegance Lamps social media pages, all of which are linked from the website.

  • This service is currently on hold. When offered, I provide private, personalized training sessions focused on lampshade making. Sessions are one-on-one video lessons, and the topic of each session is chosen by the participant. Updates and availability will be shared on the website.

  • Materials are sourced from trusted antiquities dealers and include antique and vintage textiles, trims, and lamp components. Wherever possible, existing materials are repurposed rather than replaced with new or synthetic alternatives.

  • Parasols with LED lights function as personal, portable lamps and are designed as wearable art. Parasols are restocked annually beginning in the spring, with new additions continuing through August.

  • No. Antique lamp bases are not sold separately at Elegance Lamps. Each lamp base is offered only when paired with a handmade Victorian lampshade. Lampshades may be purchased on their own without a lamp base.

  • Elegance Lamps lampshades are designed for use with LED bulbs only. LED bulbs produce very little heat, which helps protect silk and other delicate materials and supports the long-term preservation of the lampshade. LED bulbs are also available in a wide range of color temperatures, allowing you to choose light that best complements the lampshade and the room.
